Audition Procedures

Students who submit a complete application by the deadline and meet the minimum requirements outlined will be scheduled for an audition.

Auditions will take place on the dates listed below between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. on the Harrison campus.

Students should plan to arrive outside the Harrison Theatre Lobby (750 Hollingsworth Rd.) for check-in 10 min. prior to their scheduled audition time. Upon arrival, we will guide students to their respective audition locations. As a reminder, auditions are closed to outside observers. Please carefully note the audition requirements on our website.

The approximate audition time per department is as follows:
Choral – 30 min. Creative Writing – 30 min. Dance – 2 hrs.*
Guitar – 30 min. Jazz – 30 min. Motion Picture Arts – 30 min.
Musical Theatre –2.5 hrs.*+ Orchestra – 30 min. Piano - 30 min.
Theatre – 1.5 hrs. Theatre Tech – 30 min. Visual Arts – 2 hrs.

*May wish to bring a snack for breaks.
+ Musical Theatre candidates auditioning at 4:00 p.m. are “Group A.” Musical Theatre candidates auditioning at 4:45 p.m. are “Group B” – see audition requirements for more details.

Due to student privacy, only student applicants will be allowed inside the theatre (parents should wait in their vehicles). Applicants who no longer wish to audition should email Mrs. James to cancel.

Students are HIGHLY encouraged to submit their online application PRIOR to the deadline.

Students may audition for up to TWO (2) of the following departments: Chorus, Creative Writing, Dance, Guitar, Jazz Band, Motion Picture Arts, Musical Theatre, Orchestra, Piano, Theatre, Technical Theatre, and Visual Arts. Students should complete only one (1) application.

2025 Audition Dates

If you have a conflict with one of the dates assigned for your department, please email Kelly James at [email protected] after you have submitted your application. If possible, we will try to schedule your audition on one of the other audition dates.

Students auditioning will be notified by email regarding their acceptance status. Please do not call the office for this information. Notification of status will be by email only. Students not accepted may audition again the following year.

Applications due: January 8, 2025, 11:59 p.m.

Audition schedules emailed no later than: January 16, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

Auditions: January 21 – 30, 2025

Status results emailed: (TENTATIVE) March 7, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.

New Student Parent Meeting: March 26, 2025, 6:00 p.m.

Deadline for signed contract & course requests: April 2, 2025

There will be a required New Student/Parent Meeting on March 26, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Harrison Theatre. The Harrison procedures, guidelines, and contract will be reviewed at this time. During the meeting, students and parents will receive contracts to complete. Contracts for accepted students must be submitted by April 2, 2025. Contracts not received by the deadline will be invalid and a student on the waiting list will be offered that enrollment space in the respective department.
