Audition Procedures

The Lois Cowles Harrison Center for the Visual and Performing Arts 2025-26 Audition Procedures

Deadline for Application: Submitted ONLINE before January 8, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

Students completing the online application will be required to:

• Complete all basic demographic information online
• Provide names and reference numbers of two individuals who have already completed your ONLINE recommendation
• Provide a personal resumé in PDF format with a photo embedded
• Provide a PDF or photo of your most recent report card with cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher (home school/virtual school students need to upload a transcript or other proof of grades and current grade level)
• Electronically sign the application (an electronic signature is also required by a parent)
• If you are auditioning for Creative Writing, Motion Picture Arts, or Visual Arts, you must also provide your digital portfolio/writing samples for that department – see Audition Requirements for more details

All materials must be submitted online in order for the applicant to be scheduled for an audition. Submitted applications become property of Harrison School for the Arts.

Students are HIGHLY encouraged to submit their online application PRIOR to the deadline.

Students may audition for up to TWO (2) of the following departments: Chorus, Creative Writing, Dance, Guitar, Jazz Band, Motion Picture Arts, Musical Theatre, Orchestra, Piano, Theatre, Technical Theatre, and Visual Arts. Students should complete only one (1) application.

2025 Audition Dates

Auditions will take place on the dates listed above between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. on the Harrison campus. If you have a conflict with one of the dates assigned for your department, please email Kelly James at [email protected] after you have submitted your application. If possible, we will try to schedule your audition on one of the other audition dates.

Applications due: January 8, 2025, 11:59 p.m.

Audition schedules emailed no later than: January 16, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

Auditions: January 21 – 30, 2025

Status results emailed: (TENTATIVE) March 7, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.

New Student Parent Meeting: March 26, 2025, 6:00 p.m.

Deadline for signed contract & course requests: April 2, 2025

Students auditioning will be notified by email regarding their acceptance status. Please do not call the office for this information. Notification of status will be by email only. Students not accepted may audition again the following year.

There will be a required New Student/Parent Meeting on March 26, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Harrison Theatre. The Harrison procedures, guidelines, and contract will be reviewed at this time. During the meeting, students and parents will receive contracts to complete. Contracts for accepted students must be submitted by April 2, 2025. Contracts not received by the deadline will be invalid and a student on the waiting list will be offered that enrollment space in the respective department.
