HARRISON SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS STUDENT/PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES CONTRACT
Revised 4/7/2022

All students and parents are required to sign the collowing contract upon acceptance to Harrison

  • I understand that I have CHOSEN to attend Harrison School for the Arts and I will follow all of the rules and policies of Harrison as well as Polk County Public Schools. I also realize that Harrison students must maintain enrollment at Lakeland High School to be considered a Harrison student.
  • All forms requiring signatures must be submitted by the deadline. Failure to return this contract by the deadline will result in my spot being offered to another student.
  • I understand that I must maintain a semester grade-point-average of at least 2.3 (on a 4.0 scale) – for each semester - and an overall cumulative grade-point-average of at least 2.3 to maintain continued enrollment at Harrison. I also understand that I must earn a passing grade in all of my Harrison courses each semester. I acknowledge that taking required remedial courses may impact my ability to remain enrolled due to an inability to fulfill the Harrison curricular requirements.
  • I understand that any violation of the School Code of Conduct or Harrison policy that results in a punishment more severe than a detention (including skipping a class) may result in my being placed on Disciplinary Probation. Any subsequent violation during that probation period may result in my return to my home-zoned school. A serious breach of conduct (one-time offense) that results in out-of-school suspension may result in an automatic dismissal from Harrison.
  • I will abide by the Polk County Public Schools dress code. This includes adhering to the dress code (or better) when attending performances and school events (including evenings and weekends).
  • Though I may participate in athletics and other extra-curricular activities at LHS, if there are any conflicts with these activities and a Harrison activity, I will attend the Harrison activity.
  • I am aware of the attendance policy at Harrison School for the Arts: (shown below)
Harrison follows the attendance policy set forth by the Polk County Public Schools. When your student is absent from school, documentation is required to excuse the absence. PCPS policy determines whether an absence is excused or not. Per district policy, after 10 absences a doctor's note is required to excuse further absences. Students are permitted to make up work for the first three (3) unexcused absences and for ALL excused absences. Parents are expected to submit documentation within three days of the absence in order for it to be excused.
